The DLR Waves end of season awards for 2024 took place on Friday 29th November with Amber Cosgrove being named as senior player of the year.
Amber started 24 of the 25 senior competitive games for the Waves, and scored twice from the penalty spot this season, with both goals coming in victories. The right-back played a pivotal role for The Waves, having come through the underage ranks. Amber previously played for The Waves at u19’s level as part of the team that won the league in 2022.
Keelin Dodd and Aisling Meehan were recognized for their growth and achievements with the club as they were given International Recognition Awards. Keelin was a crucial player in midfield for DLR throughout the season, making the step up amidst surmounting injuries early in the season for the senior side. Aisling made her debut for the senior side in the All-Island Cup in the spring and would go on to score her first senior goal, as well as this she played an important role for the Ireland u17’s side.
Goal of the season went to Keelin Dodd for her strike in a 4-0 victory over Sligo Rovers.
At underage level, Emily McCann and Aoife Kavanagh were awarded u19’s and u17’s players of the season respectively.
DLR Waves would like to thank all of our players from senior and underage sides for their effort and dedication this season.
