Waterford 4-2 DLR Waves
SSE Airtricity Women’s Premier Division
RSC, 29th March 2025

It was a fourth defeat in a row for DLR Waves as they were away to Waterford at the RSC for the first time in a competitive meeting between the sides.

Lauren Walsh headed in the opener for Waterford from a corner, which was Waterford’s first ever goal in the SSE Airtricity Women’s Premier Division at the RSC. Rachel Doyle’s equalizer also came from a corner, the ball was sent in from Amber Cosgrove and a scramble in the box allowed Doyle to poke the ball home.

In the second half Lauren Walsh once again put Waterford ahead from a corner. There was a chaotic scramble in the box with players from both sides going down before Walsh managed to avail of the confusion and slot the ball home. DLR were given the chance to go level when Abbie Brophy was brought down in the box. Amber Cosgrove successfully converted the penalty.

The Waves tried to find a winner but it was Waterford who took the lead through substitute Erin O’Brien when the home side quickly counterattacked. O’Brien would secure the victory for Waterford when she won possession and ran through on goal, scoring late on.
