DLR Waves 0-2 Treaty United
SSE Airtricity Women’s Premier Division
UCD Bowl
Saturday 15th March 2025
It was a day to forget for DLR Waves in the sides first home game of the 2025 SSE Airticity Women’s Premier Division campaign.
Coming up against a well-organized Treaty side, DLR struggled to create any clear cut chances and didn’t test Finnish Goalkeeper Lisa Tuomi. Treaty took the lead in the first half when Isabella Flocchini found herself through on goal. The forward would turn provider in setting up captain Jillian O’Toole in the 74th minute. Flocchini was awarded player of the match.
The Waves could have no complaints about the result ultimately. Abbie Brophy and Michelle Doonan worked hard in a front two in the first half before the formation shifted to a front three, but the forwards got no real service. Chloe McCarthy was sent off late in the game with a straight red for kicking out at an attacker.
It was a frustrating day for DLR Waves who were looking to bounce back from a loss to Galway United last week. There’s a lot of work to do now after two defeats heading into a match with FAI Cup winners Shelbourne. While results aren’t a guarantee against anybody in the league, the team will be determined to put in a much better performance over 90 minutes.
