Laura Heffernan commits future to DLR Waves as Manager

DLR Waves are delighted to announce that club manager Laura Heffernan has committed her future to the club by signing a multi-year contract extension.

Chairperson Ciarán Doyle had this to say:

We are delighted to confirm Laura has officially renewed her contract with us. This decision from the club reflects the confidence we have in her abilities to lead and inspire our team.
Since joining the club, Laura has demonstrated unwavering dedication and exceptional leadership both on and off the pitch.
We believe that with Laura at the helm, we can continue to grow together as a club. Her Passion for the game and deep understanding of our club’s values make her the perfect fit to continue to lead us forward into 2025 and beyond.

Laura was appointed as manager early in the 2023 season, having previously been in the role of assistant to former manager Graham Kelly and head coach of the u19’s team. During her spell as u19’s head coach Laura led the side to underage league success in 2022.

In her time as manager of the senior team DLR Waves partnered with several community clubs in the formation of a developmental pathway.

Manager Laura Heffernan said the following about her contract extension:

I am delighted to continue my journey with DLR Waves. In the last four years the club has shown huge faith and belief in me as a manager and I am eager to keep working towards our shared goals both on and off the pitch.
Together, I hope we can continue to develop the teams and young talent within the club, keep striving for success and also continue building a strong community connection through our development academy and partner clubs.
I am already looking forward to the challenge of 2025 and another LOI season.

Laura previously coach at Wexford and Shelbourne. In 2017 she managed Wexford Youths to the Women’s National League title. As Shelbourne u17 coach Laura led the club to the underage league title in 2018.

DLR Waves looks forward to many more years with Laura at the helm and gives her our full backing and confidence.
