Club Legend Returns: Midfield Maestro Rachel Doyle is Back with a Bang

A second big incoming of the Summer transfer window as DLR Waves sign Rachel Doyle.

With the men’s Euro’s taking place your thoughts may drift back to the performances of creative playmaker Andrea Pirlo in the 2012 edition of the tournament, with the deep-lying midfielder guiding Italy to the final. In recent times for the Ireland WNT Denise O’Sullivan has proven to be a pivotal ball-playing spark in the playmaker role. While on a global stage, few are as good and creating chances than Aitana BonmatĂ­. Now, in the Summer of 2024, The Waves see the return of a club legend.

Rachel Doyle Re-Signs for DLR Waves

Known as Pebble (and sometimes Pebbleginho) Rachel Doyle had a previous spell with The Waves from 2018 to the Summer of 2022. In that time she was the clubs vice-captain and the heartbeat of the midfield. Rachel acted as a creative box to box midfielder who chipped in with goals and assists.

Having started her career a the clubs predecessor UCD Waves, Doyle had a stint with Peamount United. After moving on from DLR in 2022 she joined Bohemians.

Now Rachel Doyle has re-signed with DLR Waves to create a new chapter with the club.

Doyle is an exciting midfielder with great vision and workrate. She served tremendously well in her previous spell with the club. We look forward to welcoming her back to the UCD Bowl.
