The SSE Airtricity has announced that Thursday 23rd May – Saturday 25th May will be LGBT Ireland Football Takeover in both the women’s and men’s League of Ireland.
In June 2022 SSE Airtricity announced a new sponsorship with the National LGBT+ Helpline, ensuring that the Helpline is gully funded allowing LGBT Ireland to keep the service free of charge.
SSE are the title sponsors of both the men’s and women’s leagues, and will use this platform to raise awareness of the LGBT National Helpline within clubs, fans, and the community in the lead up to Pride month. This is an opportunity for SSE Airtricity, the League of Ireland and the respective clubs to work together on promoting inclusion and diversity within Irish football. This will be done through the utilization of SSE Airticity’s existing branding at the clubs and the creation of new assets in terms of branding, PR, and video content. The aim is to drive exposure for both the games and the LGBT helpline.
On the LGBT Weekend Takeover which takes place between 23rd-25th May the captains will wear rainbow armbands and there will be rainbow corner flags.
