League Leaders Put 4 Past Waves

Galway United vs DLR Waves

Galway United 4-0 DLR Waves
Eamonn Deacy Park, Saturday 4th May

DLR Waves were beaten at Eamonn Deacy Park in a fairly one-sided affair which saw the league leaders score twice in both halves.

Jenna Slattery opened the scoring from the penalty spot in the 22nd minute, before Lynsey McKey doubled Galway’s lead moments later.

Second half goals from Jamie Erickson and Aoibheann Costello made the scoreline comfortable. Galway had a goal ruled out for offside late in the game.

It was a difficult game for Waves as Galway has most of the attacking play. Eve Badana captained the side in the absence of club captain Jess Gleeson through injury. Freya Roche made her first start since her return from a concussion. Waves were missing a few players through injury and illness but hope to have a full strength squad to choose from again soon.

Congratulations to Galway United on breaking the attendance record for a Women’s Premier Division game.
