Frustration for The Waves as Treaty Game Ends in Defeat

DLR Waves 0-2 Treaty United
UCD Bowl, Saturday 13th July

It was a frustrating afternoon for DLR Waves as Treaty United won Saturday’s game with 2 first half goals.

Delana Friesen scored in the 8th minute to put the visitors ahead. Treaty scored on a counter attack when a clearance hit Grace Gleeson in the face, the ball found it’s way to Friesen who went one on one with Eve Badana in the Waves goal and coolly slotted home. Treaty were in the ascendancy from that point and doubled their lead ahead of the half hour mark. Danielle Steer slotted home from Grace McInerny’s cross.

From that The Waves came back into the game and began to create chances. The home side pushed hard to get one back before the break, with both Aisling Meehan and Michelle Doonan coming close. The Treaty defence was solid with the captain Erin van Dodler clearing out attacks with Anne Marie Ulliac gathering anything that got through.

The second half was a back and forth affair with both sides creating chances going forward. Treaty managed to keep The Waves at distance with Grace Gleeson and Jillian Anne Tegan O’Toole effective in defending, the latter was awarded player of the match.

It finished in defeat for The Waves. There were concerns in the 2nd half when Abbie Brophy was forced off through injury. Jess Gleeson and Chloe McCarthy were once again stand out performers for The Waves at centre back.
