DLR Waves and Sligo Look For Season Defining Cup Run

Saturday August 24th, 15:00 UCD Bowl

A place in the semi-finals of the Sports Direct FAI Cup is on the line as DLR Waves host Sligo Rovers on Saturday. DLR are looking to go one better than last year and reach the final 4, having made it through a first round tie against non-league Whitehall Rangers. Sligo Rovers made it to the semi-finals of the cup last year where they were beaten by eventual winners Athlone Town. The Connacht side beat non-league Terenure Rangers in the first round this season.

At the end of the 2023 season Sligo Rovers picked up their first competitive victory of DLR. The Waves have won each of the other league meetings, including the match between the two earlier this season.

It’s a massive chance for both sides who find themselves occupying the bottom two spots of the Premier Division table. Making it two the next round and being just one step away from Tallaght would be a season-making success for either team.
